We saw a massive market opportunity, created by both globalization as well as rising economies around the world, driving an increasing need for migrant workers in need of economic opportunity for their families. Despite considerable rhetoric at play during our 2015-2016 diligence period, we understood that remittance transactions were not discretionary, but part of the social contract in our society. Intermex was in the early stages of seizing its position as an industry disrupter that uses innovation and an unending commitment to customer service to create a scalable low-cost platform. We saw that Intermex’s exceptional leadership and highly analytical culture would allow it to capitalize on a significant greenfield opportunity in its core US to Latin American corridor with the potential to drive further growth by entering into new remittance corridors.
