Justin has worked with entrepreneurs building businesses both through meaningful capital reinvestment in their businesses and through business broadening acquisitions. He has particular experience in industrial areas such as aerospace, manufacturing and distribution. In consumer, Justin’s historical investments have been in branded and unbranded products sold through mass and specialty distribution and restaurants.
Justin co-founded Stella Point in 2012. Previously, he spent more than 17 years at Castle Harlan where he played a significant role in the development of the firm, including running the firm’s investment process from 2003 to 2010 and serving as President of the firm from 2006 to 2010. In addition to leading the effort of raising two funds at Castle Harlan totaling $2 billion, he was involved with many of the firm’s investments, serving on the board of directors of eleven portfolio companies.
Over the past twenty years, Justin has been engaged with nonprofits with a focus on education and preparing for the job market. For the past 18 years (ten years as Chair), Justin has been a Trustee of the ICD Institute for Career Development. The ICD helps people with disabilities and military veterans find meaningful work through providing job training and placement services. In addition, Justin has been a Trustee of Carleton College since 2004 and currently is a member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Investment Committee.
